Description
Co-inoculation strain for rapid MLF without risk of VA
ML PRIME™ is a unique strain of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum that rapidly completes MLF (3-10 days). It lacks the ability to produce volatile acidity from glucose or citric acid, making it safe for co-inoculation.- Ideal for red wines with ≤ 3 g/L malic acid
- Produces low to no diacetyl and does not produce biogenic amines or precursors for ethylphenol production (by Brettanomyces)
- Shows good resistance to chitosan-based antimicrobial agents (e.g., BACTILESS and ALLIANCE)
- Add ML PRIME to must 24 hours after yeast addition
- Selected by Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Italy
Must be validated by a benchtop trial, consult Scott Labs for more information
- Can be used for low pH white and rosé wines
- Can be used to restart stuck malolactic fermentations, even when starting malic levels are low
- Dosage rate: ML PRIME™ is different from Oenococcus oeni. Its cannot multiply in wine and therefore the dose rate must be respected. Avoid blending fermenting wine after inoculation.
- Yeast strain choice: Do not use ML PRIME™ in conjunction with a malic acid-producing yeast strain, such as IONYSWF
Alcohol Tolerance: <15.5%
pH: ≥3.4
Total SO2: ≤50 ppm
Temp: 20-26°C (68-80°F)
Frequently used in: Red wines
Usage: Add directly to must 24 hours after yeast addition. No rehydration required.
Storage: Dated expiration. Store at 4°C (40°F) for up to 18 months or at -18°C (0°F) for up to 36 months in original sealed packaging.
