As Scott Labs’ Fermentation & Enology Content Specialist, you will be responsible for representing the Scott Labs portfolio of Fermentation and Enology products in the digital space. Our world-class portfolio, deep product and process knowledge, and customer-centric service has made us the most trusted supplier in the wine industry. As the go-to resource for the Fermentation & Enology Department, you will leverage your own industry knowledge and technical expertise, along with our 85+ years of experience, to provide the best online customer education experience through high quality content.

The Fermentation & Enology Content Specialist is a brand-new position at Scott Labs and an exciting opportunity to influence and shape our online knowledge base and education tools.

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the General Manager – Fermentation & Enology, the Technical Content Specialist will create resources and marketing materials regularly, generating educational, engaging content to support inside and outside sales, and drive website traffic, leads, new clients, and other important metrics for the Fermentation & Enology Department.

LOCATION:

Flexible, preference given to those living in the Bay Area

CONTENT:
  • Own the writing and delivery for collateral such as whitepapers, presentations, email marketing, infographics, datasheets, frequently asked questions, best practices guidelines, and enology and fermentation protocols
  • Support the production for more complex assets like print and digital handbooks, webinars, podcasts, video series, and product marketing collateral like case studies
  • Review, edit and proofread content and marketing materials
  • Conduct in-depth research on topics around fermentation and enology
  • Write high-quality content on a variety of instructional, technical, and editorial topics
  • Identify existing content for historical optimization and craft an update plan to increase the content’s value to the business
  • Devise new types of content that help us reinforce Scott Labs' market position and relevance to the fermented beverage industry
  • Stay abreast of industry shifts and emerging trends in fermented beverage technology Perform regular content audits
  • Write effective SEO content for digital copy and social media accounts•Define audience and channel strategy to achieve optimal results
PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
  • Works with a variety of projects, including single-author or team-based projects, maintenance of existing material, and special projects as needed
  • Oversees projects from ideation to final implementation and delivery as well as ongoing maintenance and enhancement
  • Drives definition of project requirements, goals, and deliverable schedules
  • Manages the content development and review process, ensuring quality at every stage
  • Coordinates work with marketing, sales, and operations
  • Facilitates relationships with external clients and vendors, as appropriate
  • Monitors project progress, reports on key metrics, and takes initiative to address projects that are going off track
  • Refines existing processes and defines new processes for completing work
  • Manages access, training, and support for teams to ensure they can use tools and processes for authoring and project management
  • Conducts basic review of content to ensure quality and adherence to Scott Labs' authoring guidelines
SEO & DATA ANALYTICS:
  • Analyze "cases" and generate and/or update content based on customer inquiries
  • Run keyword research and competitive analysis to find areas for organic growth
  • Measure and report on organic traffic, rankings, and back-links generated from search and historical optimization strategy
  • Identify powerful keywords to drive the most valuable traffic
  • Develop link building strategies
  • Analyze keywords and SEO techniques used by competitors
OTHER:
  • Collaborate with the inside and outside technical team to generate content that enhances customer experience
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on shared projects and goals
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated and organized
  • Comfortable with basic to intermediate web and computer application usage
  • Familiarity or background in Enology or related science (Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or 2+ years of equivalent work experience
  • Background in content creation
  • Proven track record with SEO
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to make sense of large data sets
  • Strong project management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills and can function at a high performance level on a tight schedule

As Scott Labs’ Fermentation & Enology Technical Sales Representative, you will be responsible for representing and selling the Scott Labs portfolio of Fermentation and Enology products to the winemaking community. Our world-class portfolio, deep product and process knowledge, and customer-centric service has made us the most trusted supplier in the wine industry. As the go-to resource in your designated territory, you will leverage your own industry knowledge and technical expertise, along with our 85+ years of experience, to provide the best customer experience possible and expand our reach within your assigned territory and account list.

We have two openings for two different territories: Central Coast region (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Monterey Counties) and Central Valley. Please select which region you are applying for when you submit your resume.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Continuously grow product and market knowledge with a focus on how to benefit both the customer and the company
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with decision makers and influencers within your region
  • Provide exceptional customer service and communication in order to support and grow existing customer base
  • Maintain accurate account and contact information
  • Effectively prioritize activities to meet or exceed company and department initiatives
  • Travel as needed for promotion, marketing, trials, training and support
  • Manage pipeline of opportunities and provide clear customer feedback to the company
  • Attend in-person and/or virtual tradeshows and events as necessary
  • Work well with internal stakeholders to help drive customer success and contribute to a positive work environment and company culture
  • Provide fermentation technical support and communication as needed (company-wide)
  • Communicate with Inside and Outside Sales Teams on customer-specific activities and lead generation for non-Fermentation portfolio
  • Participate in and contribute to technical communication as needed including articles, handbook content, web content, seminars, speaking engagements, and digital outreach
  • Act as Fermentation product application specialist as needed (company-wide)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-4 years' experience in a winemaking environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Food Science, Biology, Enology, etc.)
  • Existing relationships with decision makers at wineries
  • Experience speaking to groups (training, conferences, etc.)
  • Experience with sales
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce CRM
